He's getting a new ("gently used by some of his cousins") train set for xmas, so any extra trains that go on a wooden track or fun add-ons for the train set.  It's compatible with the thomas train set (and any other train set that's also compatible with the Thomas one, I guess...)

A pair of kid-safe scissors.  He's obsessed with cutting things
